Hong Kong’s Harbour Arts Sculpture Park To Host First Exhibition

On February 6, the Hong Kong Arts Centre announced the roster of participating artists for the Harbour Arts Sculpture Park, the city’s first international sculpture park, opening at sites by the Victoria Harbour, including the Central and Western District Promenade, as well as waterfront areas beside the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Arts Centre in the Wan Chai district. The exhibition will open on February 22 and will be on view through April 11, 2018.
The roster is comprised of 19 artists, including Rasheed Araeen, Antony Gormley, Yayoi Kusama, Zhan Wang and more—several of whose artworks have previously graced Hong Kong’s public spaces. Of the 19 participating artists, five are from Hong Kong.
The sculpture park’s first exhibition will be curated by Tim Marlow, artistic director of Royal Academy of Arts in London, and Fumio Nanjo, director of Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum and director of Hong Kong Art School’s international programs. The park is supported by myriad private organizations and public institutions, including the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Its partners include H Queen’s and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
