Celia Ho Appointed Curator at Para Site

On August 26, Hong Kong’s nonprofit art space Para Site announced that project manager and assistant curator Celia Ho has been promoted to the position of curator.
Ho focuses on alternative forms of artistic exchange in the relationships between artists, institutions, and the community that enable radical and inclusive forms of artistic experimentation. She joined Para Site in February 2018 and was the head of production for the 2019 group exhibition “An Opera for Animals,” which traveled to Shanghai’s Rockbund Art Museum after showing in Hong Kong. She also worked on “Long Green Lizards,” an exhibition exploring social engineering, natural resources, and oppression, for Dak’Art 2018, The Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar. Most recently, she was involved with the curation and administration of “A Garden of Six Seasons,” on view at Para Site until November 15. She also has been hosting some of Para Site’s Paid Studio Visits, a series of live streamed virtual visits at studios of local artists. Ho starts her new role with curating solo exhibitions for artists Luke Ching and Vvzela Kook, both opening later this year.
Previously, Ho was an artists’ finance manager at Artsadmin, a London-based nonprofit organization that works with artists to produce theater, dance, visual art, and mixed-media works.
Para Site was founded in 1996 by Hong Kong artists. In 2015, the institution launched its annual summer exhibition series, allowing emerging curators to propose and curate month-long shows at its Quarry Bay space.
