Ayoung Kim: "Many Worlds Over"

In her thought-provoking multidisciplinary practice, South Korean artist Ayoung Kim crafts simulated worlds using artificial intelligence, video, virtual reality, installation, and sound. Merging her research of ancestral origins with her interest in the concept and definition of time, each fictional universe operates within a unique set of spatial and temporal laws. “Many Worlds Over” is Kim’s first solo exhibition in a German museum, and will feature works drawn from the past five years, exploring themes of migration, xenophobia, queerness, and geopolitics to investigate the developing symbiosis between data, humans, and the planet.
