David Medalla: “In Conversation with the Cosmos”
Hammer Museum
Los Angeles

A conjurer of ephemeral performances, the late David Medalla (1942–2020) crafted poetry from the cosmos and engaged in notions of process, impermanence, and change. This major survey traced the artist’s seven-decade-long career, which incorporated photography, drawing, assemblage, kinetic sculpture, and installation, all animated by a peripatetic spirit of experimentation and curiosity.
