Minh-ha poses this question in Traveling in the Dark (2023), a compilation of photographs, film stills, poems, aphorisms, interviews, and the script to her latest award-winning feature What About China? (2022), based on her 2022–23 exhibition at the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai. Building upon the conceptual scaffolding of this film and a philosophy that undermines the pretense of fixed identity, Minh-ha has created an introspective journey that plays with the boundaries of visibility and invisibility.
