Despite the posthumous popularity of the Portland-born Chinese American artist Martin Wong, audiences often recall his later works (from the late 1970s onward), particularly his collaboration with Nuyorican poet Miguel Piñero and his involvement with New York’s East Village graffiti culture, which propelled him as a cultural icon of the ‘80s. Wong's artistic trajectory during the 1960s in the Bay Area, however, remains more obscure.
