Art Fairs: Up and Running

After a yearlong hiatus, international art fairs attempted to bounce back into action in 2021 by adopting new operational models and boosting collaborations. Though attendance remained invitation-only or restricted to the vaccinated in many locales, gallerists experienced waves of excitement and relief at greeting clients in person again. Many collectors still had to choose very carefully which—if any—international fair to attend, but the second half of the year boasted a packed trans-Atlantic schedule, particularly with the run of Euro-American fairs starting in September at The Armory Show in New York and Art Basel in Basel, followed by October’s back-to-back run of Frieze London
