123 Up Close: Sarah Choo Jing
By Lauren Long
Singapore-based multimedia artist Sarah Choo Jing is captivated by ideas of solitude, voyeurism, and surveillance—prevalent issues in contemporary society—which she explores through videos portraying quotidian scenes of anonymous people in private spaces such as apartments and hotel rooms. With the onslaught of the pandemic, however, seclusion and the desire for bonding have taken on new meanings, as was evident in her multimedia installation, Zoom, Click, Waltz (2020), which she presented at the 2021 Singapore Art Week.
