119 Art Fair Report: The New Normal

With governments making ad hoc public safety mandates in response to uncertain Covid-19 infection rates, art fairs have sidestepped the uncertainties of staging in-person events by shifting to digital alternatives, following on the heels of Art Basel Hong Kong’s (ABHK) inaugural virtual launch in March. While mega events such as Frieze New York enjoyed robust results, smaller regional fairs faced difficulties in securing sales and resorted to extended runs.
