ARTASIAPACIFIC YOUNG WRITERS CONTEST

As part of ArtAsiaPacific's 25th anniversary celebrations, we are inviting young writers from across the globe to write a 600-word piece about the magazine's archival material. Entries will be judged by our editors, and writers will have the chance to be published in the magazine's pages, as well as receive valuable feedback from established experts in the field.

GUIDELINES:

We would like you to browse through cover articles in ArtAsiaPacific and select one artist or artist group that was previously featured. Using the feature as a starting point, write your own essay, considering the following questions: Has the artist or artist group's work evolved from the time of publication? How has their practice changed, and how has the climate from where they were working changed—geographically, socially, politically—from then to now? If the artist's practice and the context which they work in has remained unchanged, how is it relevant today?

DETAILS:

Must be 25 years old (on September 1, 2018) or under to be eligible to enter.

Must not have been published in the magazine or on ArtAsiaPacific's website in the past.

You will have five months' access to the Digital Library to conduct your research, and one week to submit your application in late August.

The word count of your article must fall between 580 and 600.

The winning article will be published in our November/December 2018 issue, as part of AAP's 25th anniversary celebrations. The winner will also receive a year's print subscription of ArtAsiaPacific and will have the chance to work closely with one of AAP's editors.

Second and third prize winners will receive a year's print subscription to ArtAsiaPacific.
