Not so fast, Geminis: you’re about to celebrate your birthday season with five planets (Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto) in retrograde; the first solar eclipse of the year; and the lunar nodes’ transit in Gemini/Sagittarius. What does that mean? A revision in all aspects of life before opening up to new ways of communication and unpredictable life changes in a world already stirred up by Gemini political figures: United States president Donald Trump; Chinese Communist Party chairman Xi Jinping; prime minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson; and the jailed pro-democracy activist Edward Leung Tin-kei, whose words have become slogans of the social movement in Hong Kong.

Indeed, Geminis are experts with words and different forms of expression. The cultural circle and the entertainment industry have been crowded by Geminis for many years, long before Venus, the ruler of art and beauty, decided to spend her four-month summer vacation in the sign beginning in April 2020. The list of Gemini musicians, painters, writers, and actors runs long: Chinese modern painter Pan Yu-Lin, songwriter and Nobel laureate Bob Dylan, Beat poet Allen Ginsberg and his idol Walt Whitman, erotic photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, Hong Kong director Ann Hui On-Wah, Japanese writers Osamu Dazai and Yasunari Kawabata, essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson, philosophers Jean-Paul Sartre and Hélène Cixous, plus Hollywood actors Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, and Tom Holland, who keeps blurting out spoilers. Their commonalities? They have an opinion about everything—their urge to express their endless thoughts is realized in multiple artistic forms and conversations with people. As the chattiest and most mutable species on Earth, Geminis seem to be always keen on holding a TED talk about every little thing they know.

Drawn from the mythology of the twin half-brothers Castor and Pollux, Geminis are often troubled by their multi-faceted personalities. The twins can be both angel and demon at the same time. There might be a split between Geminis’ appearance and their inner world if they don’t accept and integrate their different sides. While they are typically playful and sociable on the outside, this could be a cover for cynicism. As an air sign, they are rational in making their decisions and can be mindless of others’ feelings. As a result, Geminis are often perceived as ungenuine even though they are equally perplexed by their own duality, and argue with themselves a lot.

As the representative sign of Mercury, Gemini is associated with knowledge and communication. The group is fast in collecting and processing information, and quick in their expression, thus they might be constantly changing their thoughts and decisions to adapt to different situations. The energy of the upcoming season might be a bit jumpy, with lots of back-and-forth, and mess up your plans set out during Aries and Taurus season, but it will also help you analyze the flaws of your current projects, and inspire you with other possibilities and initiatives.
